- Attorney at Law
- Board Certified Specialist International Law
Thomas Baur was senior partner of the firm and he was recognized as a leading attorney in German-American legal affairs. He was the bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit of Germany, which was awarded to him for his special services to Germany in 2008 by President Köhler. Thomas Baur was also the holder of the German-American Friendship Award, one of the highest prizes in transatlantic relations. Over the course of his long career, he represented some of Germany's most important entrepreneurial families in their Florida investments as well as well-known German music, television and film stars in their US engagements.
After studying law in Heidelberg and Lausanne, Thomas Baur completed his first and second state examinations (J.C.B.) with a working stay in Venezuela. He then moved to Florida with his wife Angela. At the University of Miami, he first completed a Master in Comparative Law (M.C.L.) with highest honors and later the Juris Doctor (J.D.) with honors.
In our team, Thomas Baur was responsible for commercial and corporate law, tax law, international private law and comparative law, international inheritance law, trusts and estate planning as well as immigration law and real estate transactions. In short, you could ask him a question on any area of law practiced by our firm and he always had the right answer. Thomas was admitted in the US and Germany as a lawyer and a specialist in international law (B.C.S.) and was awarded the highest possible rating (AV) by the law firm rating agency Martindale Hubbell. In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed playing football with his grandchildren and taking photos of beautiful Florida and its people. Thomas Baur was an exceptional man and truly a good person. We mourn his loss and will miss him forever.
